Solar PV is designed to generate electricity for your use in your home. However it does have its drawbacks in so much that unless you use most of the electricity you generate yourself it doesn’t reduce your electricity bill enough and with today’s high price for electricity imported from the grid it makes sense to use as much free electricity as you can.
The excess electricity you generate is sent back into the grid and even though you may benefit from either the export tariff or SEG (Smart energy guarantee) both these tariffs pay you pennies for selling the energy on, whereas when your solar PV is asleep you have to buy in electricity at a much higher cost than your export or SEG tariff pays you from the grid, thus wasting your solar generation and making your electricity bill more expensive than it needs to be.
There are 2 ways you can overcome this problem, the first is to install a quality lithium ion battery system.
The second thing you can do to prevent your solar generation from being wasted into the grid is to instal a device that will heat a hot water cylinder using the excess electricity.

Voltage Optimisers
Voltage optimisers reduce the amount of voltage used to power our electricity appliances, thus reducing our electricity costs whilst protecting and prolonging their lifespan. Over voltage (above 230 volts) can damage our electrical appliances and ultimately shortener their life.
