The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a Government Grant scheme that enables you to apply for a grant to cover part of the cost of replacing your fossil fuel heating systems.
If your homes heating and hot water is fuelled by oil, gas, electric or LPG gas then you can apply.
To be eligible for the BUS you must own your property that you are applying for, domestic homes, businesses, holiday homes and rental properties all count as long as your replacing a fossil fuel heating system.
You cannot get a grant for:
Most new build properties
Council and social housing
A property that’s already been given government funding or support for a heat pump or biomass boiler such as the RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive)
New build properties which the developer is still building are also not eligible.
If you move into a finished new build with a fossil fuel boiler, you may be able to get a grant for a heat pump under the BUS scheme.
To apply for the BUS your property must have a valid EPC certificate.
